May is National Bike Month and is the busiest time for RBH. We started the month with a rainy Saturday supporting the Tour de Cookie. This is annual fundraising bike ride for The Tree House Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County, MD. RBH was the mechanical support helping riders with their bikes before heading out on the wet roads.
On Bike to Work Day, RBH was once gain the mechanical support at the Rockville Town Center pitstop. It was great to see cyclists stop by as they were on their way to work. Rockville11 got some great footage of RBH in this video too: https://youtu.be/dzM4aLi2kqI?si=XEKM6FvVfanqCfWj
In preparation for the TERRIFIC Kids Giveaway, we needed two days to prepare bicycles in storage. We also had to move bikes to an indoor location due to predicted rain storms. Thank you to the volunteers who helped!
Partnering with the City of Rockville, our 10th annual TERRIFIC Kids Bike Giveaway was a huge success! We gave away over 70 bikes to students who earned them by being T.E.R.R.I.F.I.C. (Trustworthy, Earnest, Respectful, Responsible, Involved, Fair, Industrious or Caring). More information about this program can be found here: https://www.rockvillemd.gov/321/Terrific-Bicycle-Award
THANK YOU to all the volunteers who made kids smile by helping them select a bike and helmet. It was also great to have visits from the Rockville Mayor and City Councilmembers. This made the parents smile too.
A decade of bike giveaways also means it has been 10 years since RBH was established as a community bike shop. Look out for future events to celebrate this milestone!
