For more than 10 years, RBH has been a trusted community resource—repairing bikes, teaching bike maintenance skills, supporting youth programs, and helping thousands of residents ride safely and confidently. RBH exists to make biking accessible to everyone in Rockville, regardless of age, income, or experience level.
Our newly released 2025 Annual Report shows just how much this work matters. Over the past year, RBH repaired and refurbished hundreds of bikes, supported youth through programs like TERRIFIC Kids, partnered with County donation initiatives, and provided hands-on education that helps residents ride more safely and sustainably. This impact was made possible by dedicated volunteers, community partners, and supporters—but it is increasingly limited by space.
RBH currently operates out of its Lewis Avenue location. While this space has allowed us to continue our work, the lease has approximately two years remaining and the facility is too small to adequately store bikes in progress or host hands-on clinics and workshops. Without a larger, permanent home, RBH’s ability to maintain—and grow—its impact is at risk.
As Rockville considers the future use of public spaces, we ask an important question: What is the Rockville Bike Hub’s value to the community—and how can the City support it long-term?
2025 Annual Report: Impact That Deserves a Permanent Home
The 2025 Annual Report documents a year of strong community demand and measurable results. It highlights:
The growing number of bikes repaired, donated, and returned to safe riding condition
Increased participation in workshops and youth programs
Continued partnerships with City and County initiatives that expand access to biking
These outcomes demonstrate that RBH is not a temporary project—it is an essential community service. To sustain this momentum and meet rising demand, RBH needs a permanent, unified facility that supports year-round programming, safe bike storage, and expanded education opportunities.
Why This Matters
The lack of a permanent, adequately sized space affects nearly every part of RBH’s operations:
Limited workspace forces volunteers to transport bikes back and forth to Redgate Park
There is no room to expand programs or serve more residents through hands-on clinics and workshops
Upcoming renovations could eliminate RBH’s storage at Redgate Park
Youth and community programs, including TERRIFIC Kids and County bike donation efforts, could be significantly reduced
Bike donations and refurbished bike sales—one of RBH’s primary sources of operating income—are at risk
Without action, the programs documented in the 2025 Annual Report may become harder to sustain.
What We’re Asking For
The Rockville Bike Hub is asking City and County leaders to work with us to identify a permanent facility that allows RBH to continue and expand its service to the community.
Specifically, we are requesting:
Collaboration with City and County leaders to identify a long-term space
Consideration of City-owned or County-owned properties, with RBH willing to pay a monthly or annual rental fee
A stable home will allow RBH to plan responsibly, invest in growth, and continue delivering the outcomes highlighted in the 2025 Annual Report.
Our Numbers Tell One Story—Your Voice Tells Another
The 2025 Annual Report captures what RBH has accomplished. But the full story is told through the experiences of the people we serve—volunteers, parents, students, riders, donors, and community partners.
Your voice can help demonstrate why Rockville Bike Hub matters and why a permanent home is essential.
Please consider sharing:
How you’ve been involved with RBH (volunteer, donor, parent, student, rider, partner)
How RBH has impacted you, your family, or the community
Why you believe the City of Rockville should support a permanent space for RBH
Guidelines:
2–5 sentences is perfect
First name + neighborhood (optional)
